In 2025, my husband was assigned to the Philippines.<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t a sudden surprise for us. We had talked about the possibility many times, so when the official notice came, we were prepared.<\/p>\n

Still, as someone with a Filipino mother, I never quite imagined that in my late twenties I would actually be living in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

It feels both familiar and strangely new at the same time.<\/p>\n

As I accompanied my husband on his overseas assignment, I decided to take a leave of absence from my job and begin this new chapter of life here.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve visited the Philippines many times to see my mother\u2019s relatives.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve stayed not only in hotels, but also at my grandmother\u2019s house and at a home my mother purchased locally.<\/p>\n

So it has never felt like a completely unknown country to me.<\/p>\n

Growing up, I naturally learned about the cultural differences between Japan and the Philippines through my mother.<\/p>\n

Because of that, I wouldn\u2019t say I felt strong anxiety about living abroad.<\/p>\n

And yet, actually living<\/em> here is different.<\/p>\n

The outlines of this country \u2014 which I thought I already understood \u2014 are slowly being redrawn through everyday life.<\/p>\n

Small discoveries, unexpected moments, and ordinary routines are reshaping my perspective little by little.<\/p>\n

Since this opportunity has come my way, I want to cherish my time here.<\/p>\n

I hope to connect with many people in the Philippines and truly experience life in this place.<\/p>\n
